ECOMMERCEBRANDSTRATEGY

When a single product catalog passes 100 SKUs, conventional e-commerce architecture breaks. At 1000+, it actively hurts conversion. Pipedreams needed a site where visitors could navigate complex product categories — brands within categories, glass within brands, accessories within glass — without the disorientation that kills sales. Category architecture was the actual product.

We designed a faceted navigation system that adapts to depth — when you're in a top-level category, you see broad filters; as you drill down, the filters become more specific to that segment. The cart and checkout were optimized for high-SKU baskets (10+ items per order is common). Search prioritizes brand and model number recognition, since smoke shop customers know what they want by name.
